Community Initiatives

It has also been my privilege to provide support or assistance to a number of important community initiatives, including:

  • Working on the successful endeavor to save the historic Fredrick Allen Lodge;
  • Joining Saratoga Springs veterans in renovating the War Memorial in Congress Park;
  • Spearheading the initiative to secure the promised $12 million from Senator Bruno for the City Center expansion;
  • Encouraging safety and trail systems along Geyser Road before any more deaths or accidents occur;
  • Assisting residents on Lake Lonely with removal of a log jam adding to their flooding problems with potential funds from Army Core of Engineers; and
  • Founding the first eastern US chapter of Grants to You, a program that educates non-profit staff and board members on grant writing and research.  Graduates of the program’s ten-hour class, offered three times a year, have reported unprecedented success at bringing increased revenue into their organizations, and therefore our community.  I deeply appreciate the support of Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco, who secured  $7,500 in funding for Grants to You last year.
  • Sponsored Sunshine Week, a program that addresses the ways citizens can have a role in shaping the future of our community.

Contact me with your ideas and priorities so I can even better represent your point of view.

Facilitation of Revenue Generation

With over 22 years of professional development experience, I have offered my fundraising and marketing skills to help the Saratoga Springs community and organizations financially.

Some of the funding I have helped to secure includes:

  • $100,000  from Saratoga County to preserve 3 acres of land next to Loughberry Lake
  • $60,000 from Senator Bruno for renovation of the War Memorial in Congress Park
  • $12 Mllion from Senator Bruno for the expansion of the City Center
  • $500,000 incorporated in Saratoga County budget for purposes of open space & farmland protection grants
  • Estimated $2.5 Million for City and $900,000 for County resulting from VLT State Revenue
  • $7 Million from Congresswoman Gillibrand for new public safety facility
  • $7,500 Economic Development Grant from NYS Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco to fund a newly established program by Yepsen called Grants to You! (already over $300,000 has come into Saratoga as a result of the training provided by this grant.)
  • $40,000 awarded in December 2006 to non-profit agencies as an appointed member to the five person Saratoga Gaming and Raceway Foundation Board
  • $20,000:  Secured a Preservation Foundation Matching Grant for repairs to West Side Frederick Allen Lodge
  • $25,000 (Not yet approved by Council) City Block Grant for renovations of West Side Frederick Allen Lodge
