Yepsen Support Not-For-Profits
This letter is in support of Joanne Yepsen’s second term as Saratoga Springs’ representative on the County Board of Supervisors. As an independent voter, I normally do not advocate publicly for any candidate.
However, this year I am compelled to write a letter on behalf of Joanne Yepsen. I have known Joanne for over 15 years admiring her volunteer work with so many not-for-profit organizations in our area. My personnel interaction with Joanne came about when she served on the Saratoga County Arts Council board for six years - two of those years she served as President of the Board. Her dedication, enthusiasm, energy and considerable knowledge assisted the Arts Council during the Arts Center Capital Campaign to renovate the former library building at 320 Broadway and establish The Arts Center.
As county supervisor for the past two years, Joanne has devoted herself tirelessly to causes she believes in. Joanne works for the people and, as such, she supports Open Government, Preservation and Smart Growth. She is always “hands-on” and has worked personally with a myriad of art groups and social service groups plus Saratoga Hospital, the NAACP, the City Recreation Department, the City Veterans, Saratoga County Sheriffs, Preservation Foundation, Saratoga P.L.A.N. and the League of Women Voters, among a host of other organizations. In addition Joanne established “Grants To You” which trains volunteers in the how-to of grant research and writing; she also serves on the County Racing Committee, helped to create and pass a County Green Infrastructure Plan and is helping create Geyser Road trail systems providing a safer pedestrian neighborhood for families.
When talking to her constituents Joanne often states, “I work for you, it’s that simple.” Obviously, it is really not a simple task – it takes perseverance, diligence, passion, and a willingness to listen and truly become the voice of the people. Joanne’s credentials and more importantly her performance during the past two years entitle her to continue as our representative on the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors. I urge you to vote YES for Joanne Yepsen on Election Day.
